David Martinez

David Martinez is the Executive Director of the Raindance Film Festival, the largest independent film festival in the UK focused on promoting and supporting debut filmmakers (www.raindance.org/festival). Since he joined in 2012, he has taken on different responsibilities within the festival, ranging from programming Latin American content to organising and supervising the festival's production.

David is a voting member of the British Academy BAFTA and a board member of the CASA Festival in the UK. He has also served as a juror in various competitions, including the Guadalajara Film Festival, Cyprus Film Festival, Lucca Film Festival, and the Global Entertainment Awards.

He has a Master of Arts in Film Studies from the University of Leicester and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from UNAM and UC Santa Barbara. His research has focused on American independent cinema, and he specialises in promoting Latin American and queer cinemas internationally.

His previous experience includes programming films for the Glastonbury Festival, producing special events at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, and coordinating guests at the London MexFest in the UK.
