Filmmaker
Emmanuel Li (they/he/she) is a BAFTA-Qualifying, London-based filmmaker working across narrative, music and fashion.
Drawing from a multidisciplinary background in theatre, magic, music and more, their imaginative tales often plunge audiences into eclectic, expressive worlds, taking on a playful approach towards genre and form and seeking out narratives that uplift marginalised perspectives, especially those of the queer Asian diaspora.
His production company Big Tent Films is home to shorts and music videos that have reached audiences and festivals around the world, and in 2021 Emmanuel was named as the BFI's ‘Best New Talent’ for her lockdown-made short ‘MUSIC FOR THE END OF THE WORLD’.
