Luis Prieto

Director

Spanish director Luis Prieto graduated in 1994 from the prestigious California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) in Los Angeles. His multi-award winning short film ‘Bamboleho’ won over 45 awards at international festivals, including Best Short Film at the Tribeca Film Festival (New York) and a Special Jury Mention at the Venice Film Festival in 2002, and was also nominated for a Goya Award.


To date, Prieto has directed seven feature films, including ‘Kidnap’ with Halle Berry, ‘Shattered’ featuring John Malkovich and Frank Grillo, ‘Pusher’ starring Richard Coyleand produced by Nicolas Winding Refn, and his latest film ‘Last Stop: Rocafort Station’, set to premiere soon on Netflix. As a documentarian, he helmed the feature-length documentary on the 2016 U.S. presidential elections, ‘The Disunited States of America’. 


He has directed several television series, including the Netflix show ‘White Lines’ starring Laura Haddock and Daniel Mays, and ‘StartUp’ featuring Martin Freeman. His other television work includes ‘The Oath’ with Sean Bean and ‘Snatch’ starring Rupert Grint, among others.
